Cuenca

Cuenca is more like a small bunch of towns than really a city. There are not big skyscrapers or buildings to obstruct the view of this historical place. We really wanted to live like the locals here and really tried to do our best. We found a great church where not only were we fed physically (cinnamon pastries) and spiritually every week, the boys found friends that made this experience one of the best.

Matt and I ran along the river that was near our house every day and made for a beautiful workout time. Going to the market here, was an experience that I will never forget and neither will the boys. Seeing chicken heads and pig organs next to the produce really does something to your appetite. The people of Cuenca are hard working, happy people who really do not have a whole lot of things. They are a testament to the fact that things, wealth, amenities really are not what make you happy.
